MESSAGE NOTES

I am the Door…
John 10:7-9
Kreg Kastelz

The Big Idea: Jesus teaches us about Himself through this metaphor.

Doors have many purposes.
He is the only door.
Don’t be a robber.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

My Story: What are some other aspects of doors that Kreg didn’t touch on that also point to something Jesus does for us?

Digging Deeper
:

1) Do you associate Jesus as a door more closely with a protection from danger or an entrance into life with God (He does both, so neither answer is wrong😊)? Why do you think that is?

2) Is it hard to accept that Jesus is the only door? Is it hard to convey that idea to others?

3) Do you know anyone who tries to just take some aspects of  the Christian faith without embracing actual faith in Jesus? Or do you know anyone who mistakes Christian faith for some of the aspects of faith? How can we help those people know Jesus as Savior?

NEWCOMERS WELCOME

We welcome Pastor Kreg Kastelz, head of our Student Ministries, as our speaker this weekend. We would love to meet you at our Welcome Center in the lobby and share a gift and available opportunities. Our Pastoral team would also love to meet you and will linger in the front after the services to this end. You may let us know you were here by using a Communication Card found in our worship folder. We receive these in containers placed on tables in the Celebration Center.

A CHRISTMAS SERIES

Our Christmas teaching series will be called “I am Christmas.” It will begin the last weekend of November and run through Sunday, December 26. It will include teaching on each of the “I am” names Jesus Christ gives Himself. These will be excellent opportunities to bring a family member or a friend to understand the meaning and significance of Christmas, applied to daily life.

CHRISTMAS WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Aspen Ridge Church will hold Christmas Eve candlelight services on December 24 indoors and for the whole family beginning at 3:00 and 4:30 PM. These will focus on Jesus who says, “I am the Light of the World.” We will then have no service on Christmas Day, December 25. However, on Sunday, December 26 we will have one combined family service at 10:00 AM.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR SID WHITFORD

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Sid Whitford on Saturday, December 11, 2021 beginning at 10:00 AM at Aspen Ridge Church. Sid went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.

ASPEN RIDGE GROWS

Aspen Ridge Church has experienced a season of growth. After a difficult 18 months marked by COVID 19, and as people are established in school-year rhythms, we are finding our physical attendance returning to 80% of pre-pandemic levels. Further, it appears our online participation has remained steady. These combined tell us we have been reaching an average well over 400 per weekend in the past month. Thank God for this growth and for your part!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

We filled 365 boxes with school supplies/toys to send to children who may never have received a gift. The shoebox will also send the good news of Jesus. We would like to thank Carol Battersby for chairing this event each year and everyone who participated.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNER

Please join us on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM for a delicious meal of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and dessert served in our Celebration Center. The cost is $3/person or $10/family.
