MESSAGE NOTES

Look Up for Kingdom Come
Revelation 20:4-6
Dr. Jeffrey Clark

The Big Idea: The King will return to earth and establish a thousand-year kingdom.

Satan bound-1,000 years, 20:1-3.
The Resurrection; 20:4-6.
The Kingdom established, 20:6.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

My Story: What impressions from the Lord’s Prayer do the following words give you: “your kingdom come, you will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”?

Digging Deeper:

1) Satan will be bound for a thousand years. Imagine such a time and contrast such with our current age. How is Satan described in 1 Peter 5:8? How is he properly resisted?

2) What is resurrection? We are embodied spirits, and your body does matter to the Lord. In what way does this doctrine give meaning and value to this human body, while not making it of ultimate value? Discuss.

3) To whom does the first resurrection refer? All will be resurrected (John 5:28, 29); however, some will be resurrected to life and others to judgment. How does Revelation 20 describe these different destinies?

4) The kingdom has been variously and widely misunderstood. Many seek kingdom “now,” yet are disappointed when it does not appear realized. However, this passage teaches a future kingdom. How can you prepare for this future kingdom?

Taking it Home: Identify a dimension of your life where you may be expecting “kingdom blessings” now (health or wealth). Instead of expecting these now, locate them as future kingdom blessings and instead expect… and resolve… to suffer with Jesus. This life is a training ground for the future kingdom.

NEWCOMERS RECEPTION

We would love to meet you at our Welcome Center in the lobby and share a gift and available opportunities. Our Pastoral team would also love to meet you and will linger in the front after the services to this end. You may let us know you were here by using a Communication Card found in our worship folder. We receive these in containers placed on tables in the Celebration Center.

PARENT DEDICATION

Aspen Ridge Church will celebrate a “Parent Dedication” this weekend. A “Parent Dedication” is a time and occasion for parents to make a public and church-wide commitment to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. We welcome Bryan and Amy Green with Hayden, Eloise and Cameron and Jay and Hannah Ginther with Jubilee to this time of dedication.

WEEKEND FELLOWSHIPS

Please plan to join us this Saturday for Soup’er Saturday immediately following the evening service and Sunday in-between our morning worship services for our Food Truck Fellowship. We look forward to great food and fellowship!

UPCOMING MEN’S RETREAT

“Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and you will find rest for your soul” – Jesus. Men, please join us Friday evening, March 18 from 6:30-9:00 PM and Saturday, March 19 from 7:45 AM-4:00 PM as we respond to Jesus’ invitation to find rest and refreshment for our souls! BAPTISM

After celebrating baptisms a few weeks ago, we have received interest in providing an additional baptism service. We will do so in the Spring on Easter weekend, April 16/17. We will provide three baptism orientation meetings, with the expectation that someone getting baptized will attend at least one. These meetings will be March 16 at 6:00 PM; March 24 at 5:00 PM and April 2 at 1:00 PM. If you are interested in baptism, please indicate on our communication card or call the church office and we will provide the needed support and orientation.

ADJUSTED OFFICE HOURS

Please note that our main office hours will be adjusted beginning Tuesday, March 29 through and including Tuesday, April 5. Tuesday through Thursday we will be open from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM – Noon. We will return to normal office hours on Wednesday, April 6.

MOPS HOP 2022

Aspen Ridge MOPS is proud to host our “returned-to-full-participation” annual MOPS Hop on Saturday, April 16! This family-friendly event will feature an Easter egg hunt (divided by age groups), “brunch with the bunny” and fun activities for all. The fun begins at 10:00 AM – we hope you can join us and invite your neighbors.

SAVE THE DATE FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)!

VBS will be held June 13-17! We moved it back one week because of a church scheduling conflict. Keep an eye out for volunteer sign-up opportunities in April. Registration for kids will open in May.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNER

Join us on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM for a delicious meal of sloppy joes, chips and dessert served in our Celebration Center. The cost is $3.00/person or $10/family, and we would love to meet you there.
