As You Go…Progress Threatened
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
Question: How does God resolve a matter threatening gospel progress to the nations?
- God has made food clean
- God has made people clean
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Think of something that, in your opinion, threatens the progress of the Christian message to the nations. How does it compare to the subject addressed in Acts 10?
- The Hebrews received extensive dietary laws in the time of Moses. What purpose did these dietary laws serve?
- Describe Peter’s vision and his response to God’s commandment to “rise, kill and eat.” Why was Peter reluctant to obey?
- The Old Testament law, including dietary regulations, are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The righteous life and cross work of Jesus grants those of us who believe a new standing before God’s law – the same standing as Jesus. What difference does this make?
- Where or when might Christian people be drawn toward legalism, enforcing Old Testament law upon New Testament believers? How about you?
Taking It Home: Evaluate your personal choices in matters of diet, clothing, personal hygiene and religion. Where or when might you be inclined to impose your personal choices on others? Resist imposing your standards on others.
We want to extend a special welcome to visitors and guests, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.
