As You Go…Progress Threatened
Acts 10:1-33

  • God has made people clean

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

My Story: Think of something that, in your opinion, threatens the progress of the Christian message to the nations. How does it compare to the subject addressed in Acts 10?

Digging Deeper:

  1. The Hebrews received extensive dietary laws in the time of Moses. What purpose did these dietary laws serve?
  2. Describe Peter’s vision and his response to God’s commandment to “rise, kill and eat.” Why was Peter reluctant to obey?
  3. The Old Testament law, including dietary regulations, are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The righteous life and cross work of Jesus grants those of us who believe a new standing before God’s law – the same standing as Jesus. What difference does this make?
  4. Where or when might Christian people be drawn toward legalism, enforcing Old Testament law upon New Testament believers? How about you?

Taking It Home: Evaluate your personal choices in matters of diet, clothing, personal hygiene and religion. Where or when might you be inclined to impose your personal choices on others? Resist imposing your standards on others.

SURVEY RESULTS

A few weekends ago, our church leadership made a survey available regarding preferences for Sunday worship times. The times proposed that received the most equal support were 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM. In light of this, we will offer Sunday morning services at those times beginning September 9.

AWANA

Online registration for AWANA is now open on the church website! Our first official AWANA night is Wednesday, September 5 at 6:30 PM. This is the time to pay dues, get supplies and learn about the upcoming year, but we do ask that you register online to help the first night run smoothly.

VIEW FROM THE RIDGE: ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING

Our meeting this year will be held on Sunday, September 30, immediately following our 10:30 AM service. The meeting will follow a potluck lunch. Please join us as we look back to see what God has done and look forward to our new ministry year.

DV8 STUDENTS

Please join us as we resume our regular school-year schedule! Middle school will meet on Wednesday evenings and high school on Thursday evenings in the Student Center from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNER

Dinner is served at 5:30 PM on Wednesday nights. This week, our menu includes lasagna, garlic bread, green beans, peaches and dessert for $2.50/person or $10/family. All are welcome.
