As You Go…Scattering
Acts 8:1-8
Dr. Jeffrey Clark

The Big Idea: Opposition toward the Christian Way results in its advance.

  • Opposition to the Christian Way, v. 1-3.
  • Results in its advance, v. 4-8.

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

My Story: Think of an event or time in your life that was bitter, but in the end served to produce something of value. What was it? How did it ultimately help you?

Digging Deeper:

  1. Make note in the passage of opposition to the early and budding Christian Way. How do these compare to the types of opposition that exist today?
  2. What kind of opposition do you face in your Christian life today. How may this opposition become a time or occasion for God to advance his message?
  3. What did those who were scattered do? Which of these habits or behaviors can become of our lives today?
  4. What were the consequences or results of the evangelization of the Samaritan region? Which of these do you see in your own life, or in the lives of others?

Taking It Home: Have a gospel presentation that is ready to be used as God prepares and opens opportunity. Which gospel presentation do you choose? Why?

We want to extend a special welcome to visitors and guests, and we invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. Pastor Jeff will meet you at the Welcome Center, where you can also receive a special gift when you turn in a Communication Card.

Faith Day at the Rockies is Sunday, July 29 at 1:10 PM vs. the Oakland Athletics, with Rockies players speaking after the game. The post-game concert features Passion. Tickets for this event are $17 each and are available through Marilyn Betsch at 303.489.6711 until July 15.

Twenty minutes prior to each service, we will meet for a prayer time with our worship team, audio/visual team and Pastor Jeff in the front of the Celebration Center. This time is open to anyone with a heart for prayer, and you may join in freely with the circle that gathers. We seek God’s will in all matters surrounding our services and those that attend, and we welcome all who wish to participate.

After a year of faithfully and excellently serving in an interim role, Matt will be passing the baton this weekend to Nate Rees. Take a moment to let Matt and Katie know how much you’ve appreciated them. Nate will be transitioning to the position of Interim Director of Worship Arts, and we look forward to the gifts he now brings to the table.

Through July 20, our main office will be on a shortened summer schedule. We will continue to be closed on Mondays. On Tuesdays – Fridays, we will be open from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM.
