Easter – The Fact of the Matter
Acts 2:22-24
Dr. Jeffrey Clark

Question: Did Jesus Christ rise from the dead in his physical body?

  • Fact #1 – Jesus died due to Roman _______________
  • Fact #2 – Jesus’ followers had ______________ with the risen Jesus
  • Fact #3 – Jesus’ followers were changed and _______________
  • Fact #4 – Paul had a _______________ experience

The Big Idea: Jesus Christ did rise from the dead in his physical body.

  • Find hope in any circumstance
  • . This world matters.

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

My Story: When you board a flight to another city, what kind of faith are you placing in that airplane? How does this relate to faith in Jesus Christ?

Digging Deeper:

  1. What facts were supplied in answer to the question whether Jesus rose from the dead in his physical body? Which of these facts did you find most (or least) compelling?
  2. These facts are in support of the singular fact that Christ rose from the dead in His physical body. How reliable and important is this assertion?
  3. The Apostle Paul exhorts Christ-followers to believe in the resurrection of Christ all the way, or not at all. How does he describe the plight of believers if, in fact, Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead in 1 Corinthians 15:14-19?
  4. What difference does the bodily resurrection of Christ make in the way you value human life in this world or in the way you find hope in difficult circumstances?

Taking It Home: To those who came to believe Jesus really did rise from the dead, Peter said “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).
