The Height of Faith – A Better Mediator
Hebrews 5:5-10
Lynn Conner

The Big Idea: Jesus’ high qualifications makes Him the best mediator for our relationship with God.

  • Jesus has a unique relationship.
  • Jesus is of a higher order than other mediators.
  • Jesus exhibits stronger character.
  • Jesus, Himself, is the source for eternal salvation.

Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

Discussion Questions:

  1. Please read Hebrews 5:5-10. How did you feel about this week’s passage?
  2. What did you learn about this passage from the message?
  3. What is God stirring up in you to apply to your daily living from this message?

Taking it Home: Continue to pray for your neighbors leading up to Easter weekend. Take an “Easter Egg” invitation, and continue making invitations for Easter weekend.

This weekend, we are pleased to welcome Lynn and Barb Conner. Lynn and Barb have been Aspen Ridge missionaries, affiliated with Converge Worldwide, for many decades. We recognize their many years of faithful service, and we look forward to hearing from them! If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you, and we invite you to an informal
reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Pastor Jeff will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he will meet you at the Welcome Center.

In the back of the room, you will find a large basket of plastic eggs. Inside is a bouncy ball and an invitation to our Easter weekend activities. Would you pray about who you might share an egg with this week? Maybe there’s someone in your circles that needs to know, “So what?” We’ll also be hosting our free Easter dinner (burrito bar) on Saturday, April 15 at 5:00 PM, so invite a neighbor to join you for a free meal.

We are in the process of gathering information to present a proposal for building upgrades, but will not be ready for an April 22/23 discussion. The previously scheduled meeting will be postponed, and we will let you know when a rescheduled date has been set. Please continue to pray that God would direct us in how we go forward to serve our community!

Aspen Ridge will be hosting a parent/child dedication weekend on May 13/14. Please let us know before May 1 if you are interested in this opportunity. This is a special way to publicly affirm your commitment before God and your church family to raise your child in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord.

We would like to congratulate two exceptional young ladies, Amy Fuester and Alissa Sheffer, in earning their AWANA Citation Awards! This is the highest honor in the AWANA program, requiring memorization of over 1000 Bible verses and completion of many years of workbooks. Way to go, ladies!

Thanks to all who are contributing to Live It Out as we intentionally reach out to our community in practical and loving ways. To contribute, note “Live It Out” on or with your gift.
Gifts (pledged and unpledged) received to date:           $ 76,641
Remaining pledged amount:                                            $ 56,100

It is time for our annual Easter egg hunt (MOPS Hop) for kids through age 10, sponsored by the Mothers of Preschoolers group! This year’s festivities will be on campus at Aspen Ridge beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 15. Please join as we celebrate families, children and our risen Lord! There will be a free hotdog lunch offered after the egg hunt. There will also be a box in the lobby, leading up to the event. If you have gently used children’s books to donate for prizes, they would be appreciated.

The Bridge provides an orientation to church life and will be taking on a little different format this session. This class allows people to explore and discover who we are and how you may fit into ministry within our body. Those who are new to Aspen Ridge, who want to know more about the church, who want to discover a small group and who want to find a way
to serve are invited. Dinner will be provided, and the session is scheduled on April 23 from 4:00 – 7:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Email us at [email protected] to reserve your spot.

On April 22/23, we will be focusing on families during regular services. Nursery will be provided for infants and toddlers through age 3 – all other children are invited to attend with their families. The message and music will be centered towards families, and our Children’s Director, Maryjean Fowler, will invite kids to the front of the Celebration Center for a short
and interactive children’s sermon that will parallel Pastor Jeff’s message. We hope you will join us as we elevate families in these special services!

Student weekend is coming up April 29/30. In addition to needing students to help with the weekend (talk to Kreg), we would like to honor graduating students from high school or college. If you are a graduating senior, please email [email protected] by April 15 to be honored during student ministries weekend.

Please join us at 5:30 PM for dinner. We will be serving chicken enchiladas, salad and dessert for $2.50 per person or $10 max per family. AWANA and DV8 Middle School begin at 6:30 PM.
