A Hero in a Weak Moment
Exodus 18
Dave Mathewson

  • What is going on in Exodus 18?
  • Reading Exodus 18 as part of the story of Moses…
  • Lessons from a hero in a weak moment…

Please join us in welcoming Dave Mathewson, one of our own, as our speaker this weekend. Dave serves our church family as an Elder and the community as a professor at Denver Seminary. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Dave will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Joyce, will meet you at the Welcome Center.

It may be that you are interested in baptism for yourself or a family member. Our next baptism will be the weekend of August 29-30. Please be in touch with church leadership by August 15 if you would like to participate in the next baptism weekend!

Do you have items or services you would like to display or sell at our fall celebration, RidgeFest, on September 26? Please check out our website for more details or to register as a vendor. We would love to fill our lot with local opportunities! We also plan to have fun activities for children and adults again this year…so get ready for hay rides, a bounce house and a dunk tank! Can you smell Fall in the air yet?

Do you need to put something in the bulletin? Do you lead an event that needs flyers or marketing? Do you have a life-changing story you’d like to share? All of these requests (and more!) can now be submitted online, through our website at You can also access this link by using the “Contact” tab and selecting “Communications Request.” By using this online system, you will help us keep track of requests and deadlines to ensure smoother communication!

Aspen Ridge Church has a three bedroom, three bath, two car garage house that will be available for rent in September. Please contact the church office if you are interested in this opportunity.

Middle school and high school students, we will resume our regular weekly schedule beginning the week of August 10. Middle school will meet in the Student Center on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. High school will meet in the Student Center on Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Please join us each week for Bible study and bring a friend!

Please mark your calendars for the beginning of our Wednesday night family suppers on September 9 at 5:30 PM, followed by our AWANA program from 6:30-8:00 PM. Our meals are $2.50 per person, with a $10 maximum per family. Our AWANA program ministers to children from 3 years old through grade 5. We also support middle and high school AWANA. This is a great fellowship opportunity; please plan to join us! (AWANA training for leaders takes place on September 2.)

For nearly 20 years, our church has been pleased to host “Taste of Christmas” – a Women’s Ministry event. This is usually held on or around the first Monday in November, as an introduction to the holiday season. Due to transitions within the life of our church, this event is currently without a leader. We believe that if God intends us to continue this ministry, He will provide leadership. If you have a suggestion or a recommendation toward that end, please contact the church office by August 16.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
Meets 2nd and 4th Tuesdays during the school year

A MOPS meeting includes practical teaching through speakers, demonstrations and videos. Sometimes we get a little crafty…sometimes we get a little crazy…we always have fun! Plus, there’s food…food you didn’t make! But more important, you’ll get to have honest conversations with other moms who understand the joys and frustrations of motherhood. Need a little mom connection? A little adult conversation? Strong coffee and a moment to sit still? We do, too. We’re here for you. Oh! And guess what? We’re all moms, too. So, we totally get that you’ll be running in the door 15 minutes late with cookie crumbs in your hair. Chances are, we will be too!
