Dear Aspen Ridge Church,
We have a great problem, and you could be part of our solution!
Our “problem” is that our attendance on Sunday at 10:30 AM is reaching and surpassing our seating format. However, we still have room on Sundays at 9:00 AM and Saturdays at 5:00 PM. Having three weekend worship services provides choices that serve a growing portion of our harvest field. In my view, strengthening our attendance at all three weekend services is the best way to serve our mission of “inviting neighbors to find a home in Christ together.” On the benefits of our weekend service format, Charles Arn says:
When your church has only one service per week, the choice of responses you are giving to people is simple: “yes to this service” or “no to this service.” But when you offer two services, you have doubled the number of opportunities you now give people to say yes and increased the statistical likelihood of a positive response to one of your services from 50 to 66 percent. Offer three services and you triple the number of choices and increase the opportunities to say yes to 75 percent.
Certainly, people’s responses to invitations are not simply a function of percentages. God must be creating interest and desire for the kind of needs our church can meet. He appears to be doing so. The physical attendance at our weekend services is approaching pre-pandemic levels. However, God uses human means to accomplish His purposes. If you were to shift your attendance to Sunday at 9:00 AM, you would serve the progress of that important service. For this reason, will you consider attending the Sunday 9:00 AM or Saturday Night at 5:00 PM service?
Let me describe SEVEN additional reasons for connecting on Sunday at 9:00 AM or Saturday at 5:00 PM:
- Open a chair for a neighbor at 10:30 AM service.
- Pastor Kreg and team provide student ministry at 9:00 AM.
- Same great experience of music with Pastor Lawrence and worship team.
- Allows you to serve in children’s ministry during 10:30 AM service.
- Expands a wider portion of your Sunday for free time and rest.
- Serve as an Usher or Greeter during our 10:30 AM service.
- Introduces attending a small group “Journeys with Jesus” at 10:30 AM.
Who can begin to attend on Sundays at 9:00 AM or Saturdays at 5:00 PM? If that describes you, when can you start?
Yours,
Pastor Jeff Clark
