Hands down, or should I say greasy hands down, my favorite food in college was Pizza. I bet you I ate it a least 4 times a week, every week. And it never got old.
Pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion—I loved it all except for that evil Hawaiin Pizza with ham and pineapple. EW! Any other style or topping would do with Supreme being the best as its title attests.
My friends and I loved pizza so much that we would often start yelling “Pizza Party, Pizza Party, PIZZA PARTY!” while hanging out in our dorm room. It often turned into teenage frivolity as we would jump around on the furniture and room in ways our parents would frown at if they were around.
The trend of getting pumped about pizza and yelling carried over into large social events and parties. I remember several events where we had 100 or more people all yelling “Pizza Party! Pizza Party” at the top of their lungs all together. And we weren’t even ordering pizza those times.
Weird, I know. But, looking back, it brought a sense of joy and bonding amongst people saying the same thing repeatedly in a celebratory way. It was like we could all agree and rally around this one thing, reckless as it may have been.
It is in this spirit of celebration and bonding that I would like to invite you to a Pizza Party on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from Noon to 1:30 PM in Fellowship Hall. We will play a game, have some fun, and learn about what small group life looks like at Aspen Ridge Church. And, of course, have some Pizza!
While you might get some curious stares, you can even wear a toga and yell “Pizza Party” if you’d like! See you there.
