Dear Friends,

I trust you are enjoying the changing rhythms of the summer months. In many cases there are new friends to make, new places to see, and new opportunities to experience God’s beautiful creation. I hope you will receive God’s grace and renewal on these long days, in this warm season.

Since the transition from our regular school year to our summer calendar, we have seen God at work in remarkable ways. Our Vacation Bible School outreach brought over 200 children, over 40 of which made a faith commitment in Jesus Christ. Further, we had some 80 workers faithfully serving the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are also experimenting with Summer Affinity Groups for adults, revolving around shared interest in the outdoors with things like Jeeping, Golfing, Fly Fishing, Hiking, and Volleyball(ing). These groups are a great way to make new friends for God’s kingdom.

You may know that we have had important developments in our worship arts ministry. Matt Johnson has received and accepted a call to his home church. We greatly appreciate Matt and Katie and pray God’s guidance and favor for them going forward. However, since our search for a Pastor of Worship Arts is not complete, we are bringing a new Interim Director of Worship Arts – Nate Rees. Nate will begin shadowing our worship ministry the weekend of July 7/8, and formally take the reigns July 14/15. You will want to give Nate an “Aspen Ridge” welcome in his new role and responsibilities.

We do have many opportunities for prayer and ministry support in the coming weeks and months. We have sent just under 30 from our student ministry to CIY summer camp this week. In the way of building relationships with friends and neighbors we are sending a group to Faith Day at the Rockies July 29. We are also engaging our community with a service project the first weekend of August. Finally, our summer will culminate with baptisms on Labor Day weekend (with orientation meetings scheduled for August 5 or 12 at 9:00 AM).

May God bring encouragement to you in the Christian Way,

Pastor Jeff
