The idea of “inviting our neighbors to find a home in Christ” is one that constantly excites and challenges me, and one which really should impact every move we make as a church. One of our greatest opportunities for realizing this is about to happen, and I’d love to see us all get behind it.

Easter is the best-attended service of the year. Last year, we saw nearly 700 people attend our these services. It’s not out of the question that we could see considerably more than that this year. What that ultimately means is that there are a TON of infrequent attenders and first-time attenders that will be here for Easter: precisely the kind of people that we would love to see become a regular part of our church body. The only way this will happen is if they feel welcomed, loved, cared for and connected during their 90 minutes here. That will take ALL of us working together and giving our best.

With that in mind, we have decided that the considerable resources we were pouring into our Good Friday services will be better spent, this year, in making our Easter services stronger. While we, of course, value everyone who has supported our Good Friday services in the past, we hope that they will understand and even rally around our efforts to reach our neighbors over the Easter Weekend.

This is what we’re proposing for this year, with this big idea of reaching our neighbors as our goal:

Thursday, April 2 – Volunteer Prep Night!  (6:30 – 8:15 PM)

Everyone serving (in any ministry) during Easter Weekend will be invited to attend this important night of preparing, praying and uniting as a church body to ready ourselves for the weekend. Your ministry team leaders will have more details. We will have childcare available that night in the hopes that everyone can be in attendance. (And if you’re NOT currently scheduled to serve Easter weekend but would like to, we’ll find a place for you!)

Friday, April 3 – Prayer Walk/Open Prayer Time for Congregation (5:00 – 8:00 PM)

We will devote 3 hours for people to drop in as they have time and spend 1.8, 18 or 180 minutes praying for our neighbors and the Easter weekend. Prayer works!

Saturday, April 4 – Special Meal! Invite your neighbors to dinner! (5:00 PM)

Saturday, April 4 – Saturday Evening Service (6:00 PM)

This will be the first of our three Easter Celebration Services. We’d love to have you come Saturday and free up seats for our neighbors that will be coming Sunday.

Sunday, April 5 – Breakfast! Invite your neighbors to join you! (8:00 AM)

Sunday, April 5 – Sunday Morning Services (9:00 and 10:30 AM)

Again, if you can come for breakfast and attend the 9:00 AM service, it will allow more of our neighbors to have seats at the 10:30 AM service.

I am honored to serve alongside you here at Aspen Ridge. I look forward to this Easter being a life changing event for many of our neighbors…and for all of us as well!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Kerry
