Follow Me - Going to Jesus for Help
Dr. Jeffrey Clark
The Big Idea: When going to Jesus for help, one may receive MORE than expected.
- Jairus went to Jesus for help, and he began learning about patience.
- The woman went to Jesus for help, and she had a personal encounter.
- Jairus went to Jesus for help, and he began learning about life from death.
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
Perceptions: How did you feel about this topic… before this message was even heard? How did the message reinforce, challenge or adjust your feelings on this topic? What point did you feel most strongly about?
Learning: What did you learn about this topic that perhaps you didn’t know before? What portion(s) of this message brought valuable review or insightful perspective? How did this topic develop a Christian “way of thinking” that challenges your view of the world?
Life Change: Where do you need to apply the big idea behind this message? How could this application show up in your life? What difference will this message make going forward? Where do you need help and support in making personal life changes?
If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Pastor Jeff will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Mary, will meet you at the Welcome Center.
Thanks for being here at our worship and baptism service today. Please join us in celebrating with Keith and Kevin Bell, Zoe Sams, Paxton Kennedy and Carter McGinness as they are baptized this weekend. It may be that you are interested in baptism for yourself or a family member. Our next baptism will be the weekend of August 29 and 30. Please be in touch with church leadership by August 15 if you would like to participate in the next baptism!
FAITH DAY AT THE ROCKIES
Want to join us at Coors Field on Sunday, July 26 at 2:10 PM as we celebrate Faith Day at the Rockies? The post-game concert features Michael W. Smith and is included in the ticket price ($18.00). Payment to reserve seats with our group must be submitted to the office no later than Tuesday, July 14, by noon.
ISLAM AND THE AMERICAN CHRISTIAN
Do you know a Muslim or have a Muslin friend? Are you interested in discovering the three reasons Muslims differ with the fundamentals of the Christian faith…and in knowing how Christians can influence Muslims like Jesus would? Please join us the weekend of August 1 and 2 as Jim Ardill, one of our missionary partners, provides answers to these important questions during our weekend services.
KID’S GUITAR CAMP
Kids Guitar Camp is fast-approaching! We are limiting it to 8 students this year in order to improve the experience. You can sign up until August 3—if it doesn't fill up before then! Save your spot now...cost is $50. Please email Pastor Kerry to register your child(ren) at Music@AspenRidgeChurch.org.
Do you have items or services you would like to display or sell at our fall celebration, RidgeFest, on September 26? Please contact Debbie Stewart to join us as a vendor! Check out our website for more details or to register.
Middle school and high school students, please join us for Back Porch at the Sheffer’s home on Thursday, July 9 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Vans will leave the church promptly at 6:00 PM! Also, join us for a DV8 Hiking Day on Friday, July 17. Our tentative times are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, but watch our Facebook page for further details!
We would like to welcome our ministry partners who are here from North Africa. You are invited to join them Sunday morning, July 12, in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 AM. This will replace our normal meeting of The Gathering, and it will allow you to hear more about the things God is doing and how you can pray.
The balance of July will see Dr. Jeffrey Clark taking us through an enlightening look at the Kingdom of God through the teachings of Jesus. Historically, Christians have viewed the Kingdom of God in many varied and diverse ways – but the real question is, “How and what did Jesus teach us on this very important topic?”
MOPS YARD SALE
Aspen Ridge Mothers of Preschoolers are hosting their annual yard sale on August 8, from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. If you have items you would like to donate, please contact them to arrange a drop-off time in the church annex. They will also be collecting items in the student center during the week prior to the sale. Support our MOPS ladies and the amazing outreach that they provide to families in our community!
