Where We Stand – The Church and Church Cooperation
The Big Idea: The church is God’s designed instrument to nurture His followers in glorifying Him.
- Its Head
- Its Members
- Its Mission
- Its Methods
Quick Review: Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
My Story: Identify a project which you attempted to do alone but were not successful. Then think about a project that called for a team of people working together, of which you were a part. How do these experiences compare and contrast?
- There may be a paradigm shift in a person’s life from “the family of God needs me” to “I need the family of God.” Which of these ways of thinking describes you?
- A Christian worldview sees deficiencies in a dependent or an independent mindset. Instead, it promotes an inter-dependent way of believing and living. How are you living in an inter-dependent way with God’s people?
- The mission of the church is wrapped up in “making disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). Before one can make disciples, they need to become a disciple. What kind of disciple are you? Where is God challenging you to follow him wholeheartedly?
- Our church is in a partnership with our Converge family of churches, with missionaries, and with one another. What stories describe what God has done in these partnerships?
Taking It Home: One practical way we can experience something of Christ’s body is by finding and joining a small group. If you are in a small group, tell the members how valuable they are to your Christian life. If you are interested in joining a small group, contact us at info@AspenRidgeChurch.org or check out the current listing of groups on our website.
We would like to welcome one of our own, Norm Lewis, as speaker this weekend. Norm is Chairman of our Board of Elders and very involved in our community. If you are visiting, we want to extend a special welcome to you and invite you to an informal reception immediately following our worship service. On Saturday, Norm will be available in the Celebration Center, and on Sunday, he and his wife, Kathy will meet you at the Welcome Center in the entryway.
CELEBRATION CENTER SEATING
Our church family is to be commended for inviting neighbors to find a home in Christ together. The result is that seating is at a premium and this “good problem” is causing us to add seating at both of our weekend services. On Saturday night, we are adding tables to increase our seating capacity. On Sunday morning, we are removing tables to increase our seating capacity. We understand the tables have been attractive to many; however, in order to make room for neighbors we are experimenting. If you have comments or input, feel free to indicate on our communication cards.
Aspen Ridge makes a concerted and intentional effort to fold individuals into small group life. We have recently added a small group on Monday evenings in Conifer, Wednesday evenings in Evergreen and Sunday evenings in Bailey. If you are interested in being a part of a small group please let us know on our communication card.
CPR TRAINING CLASS
CPR Colorado and Aspen Ridge Church are partnering together to offer this CPR training on Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $30 per person, and this training is open to any who might be interested. Please contact Debbie Stewart at 303.902.5020 with any questions or to register.
A BIT OF CHURCH INFORMATION
Aspen Ridge Church is a part of a regional movement of churches called Converge Rocky Mountain. This movement of churches provides support, encouragement, prayer, and ministry partnership for many and various gospel initiatives. Our district executive minister is Paul Mitton. DV8 HOSTS DATE NIGHT
This event is a fundraiser for our DV8 students attending retreats and camps this year. If you are a parent who needs a night out, you can drop your kids off at church on Friday, February 27 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. The DV8 students, along with some parent volunteers, will be providing fun, snacks and a movie for the kids in attendance. There is a suggested donation of $10 per hour. All proceeds go to our students!
The Gathering in February is taking a look at the attributes of God. Have you ever tried to understand who God is, and what He is like? John Powell will lead The Gathering through a thoughtful and inspirational look at some of the many attributes of God.
In March, we will see Dave Mathewson follow up on last year’s New Testament survey by kicking off a three month survey of the Old Testament. Join us as we see the Old Testament clearly reveal the character and identity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. See how the Old and New Testaments have been woven together to provide a thought provoking picture of our Lord.
WOMEN OF FAITH SERVICE PROJECT
Our Women of Faith small group is working on a service project and could use your help! They are collecting plastic grocery bags to make waterproof mats for the homeless. These mats are greatly appreciated. If you have any bags to donate, please drop them off in the church office.
